EARTH DAY symbol

Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd of each year. Now that there is a worldwide concern in global warming and climate change. Earth Day is now more celebrated and understood more than ever. Admittedly though, majority of us are still not conscious of our “habits” that directly  hurt mother earth.

Today, I was supposed to go to a meeting – but I ended up being stuck in heavy traffic for 4 hours! The traffic was caused by floods because of a heavy downpour at exactly 12 noon. Unfortunately for me, I was already on the road by that time. Good thing, I had a book with me to keep me company while I literally waited for 2 hours in idle traffic and another 2 hours to weave the car around Metro Manila to get myself home. Good thing I decided to drive an SUV. I didn’t have to worry about getting bogged down in the middle of a flooded road.

April is supposed to be the hottest month in The Philippines. But, it’s been raining almost every afternoon for the past week. And how ironic that a shallow low pressure area (read: some kind of a storm) occurred today, on Earth Day.

Mother nature is getting a wee bit pissed. And I really don’t blame her. Time to Be AWARE my friends!

Earth Hour.

with 2 comments

It was a busy Sunday for us… After my niece’s christening in the morning and a three-hour non-stop chat with my good friend Jaimie and then a family dinner at my sister’s home, we were in a hurry to get home before 8:30PM.

Thankfully, we got back home in time for me to give Sky his much-needed bath, light up candles around the house AND switched off ALL the LIGHTS to celebrate EARTH HOUR.

Sky was so tired from the activities of the day, that he asked for a bottle of fresh milk and headed to bed all by himself. I dutifully followed him and sang him a song before he went to sleep. The ambiance of the house made him sleep even earlier than expected. As soon as he dozed off at a quarter before 9PM, I was happy to see that most of our neighbors switched off their lights as well. A Good 60 minutes of “shutting off” will do wonders for Mother Earth. Hope you celebrated Earth Hour yesterday!

Glimpses of Doodle’s christening here.

Running (ruining) in U.P. Diliman

leave a comment »

I did run in U.P. Diliman late afternoon on Friday. It’s nicer to run there as the dawn breaks in the because there are less jeepneys and you just have to share the tree laden road with other runners like yourself. This post should actually be posted in my other blog, but I just wanted to share this photo right here…

It’s a beauty isn’t it? And this was just right in front of the parking lot across Palma Hall ( I think…). But, check out what’s right beside it…

Loads and loads of Foam Food Containers!

It’s just sad how WE have all become so irresponsible – and it’s already taking it’s toll. One earthquake after another. Tornado’s sprouting in the Northern region of the Philippines… It’s our fault too – for making such a BIG mess.
