Play Area @ Manila Ocean Park
A week ago, shortly after I passed by Metropolitan Hospital to pick up the receipt for Sky’s Anesthesiologist fee – I went straight to Manila Ocean Park to present the receipt for reimbursement. After Sky’s mishap (read about it here.) and operation last August, the Anesthesiologist did not want to be paid through Manila Ocean Park’s health care insurance – so we paid that one ourselves. We we’re assured that we can reimburse it anytime after the operation.
So today I went, by myself. Sans Sky.
I was ushered in the administration and met Abby (the nurse who assisted us all throughout), we exchanged a few hello’s and I showed her pictures of Sky – how he is now. And she then endorsed me to Ms. Penelope and I gingerly gave her the receipt. She went back inside their office. And I waited for just a few minutes in their waiting area.
She came back, half-scared and half-embarrassed; she said she needs a letter and a photo of Sky from me so she can process the reimbursement. She thought I was going to get angry.
But I’m not, I really wasn’t expecting to be reimbursed THAT day. I’ve worked in the corporate world before and I am quite familiar with the trail a request will go through before it is answered. She looked pale when I didn’t say anything at first.
“Oh that’s okay, I’m not expecting to get anything here today. I know how it goes. It’s not a problem.” I said with a smile.
“Thank you po”, came her answer. And color suddenly returned to her face.
As soon as I got home, I emailed Penelope the details of Sky’s condition after the surgery. She’ll let me know when I can come by to pick it up, perhaps sometime next week.
As I was leaving, I noticed that the administration of Manila Ocean Park moved the Play area right beside the first aid station! And they have removed traces of anything made of steel too. I felt a shot of sadness right then. Sky had to get into an accident for them to be “conscious” of safety… But, I’m glad it’s over. Sky’s doing great and loving every minute of life. And that’s all that matters.
